How are other companies handling current challenges in recruiting, supporting, and retaining apprentices?
At Scholz, we ask ourselves this question, and that is exactly why the Employers' Association (AGV) apprenticeship network exists. As a member, we regularly attend the meetings, which take place twice a year and provide a space for open exchange among those responsible for training.
What makes it particularly exciting is that the meetings are often held at member companies. This not only provides fresh inspiration for our own training programs but also offers interesting behind-the-scenes insights into other businesses. Two years ago, we hosted a network meeting ourselves at our site in Recklinghausen and had the opportunity to share our company and our experiences.
At the last meeting in October, we were guests at Vogelsang Elektromotoren GmbH in Bochum. In addition to a company tour and insights into their training program, the focus was primarily on discussion. Topics included how to prevent apprentices from dropping out, as well as practical everyday questions, such as how to handle mobile phone use during working hours.
It is precisely this mix that makes the meetings so valuable: sharing experiences, taking away new ideas, and learning from one another.
