At the Dyckerhoff Weiss Betonwerkstein Conference in May 2025, Dr. Hauser from DUCON EUROPE GmbH spoke about the use of DUCON concrete developed by him in the United States. DUCON is with us Scholz known because they are already supplied with our liquid black ISF-Z (intense black liquid) to give high-performance concrete components a rich, black hue.
The company DUCON, whose name is derived from DucTile ConConcrete, is known for its special solutions, which are market leaders with extremely slim cross-sections and highly durable and ductile material behavior. The material was designed in such a way that the resulting concrete components can also withstand extreme, dynamic loads, such as earthquakes or shocks caused by gunfire and explosions.
This has already been proven in Kabul, the Afghan capital, in which the German embassy building made of DUCON concrete remained undamaged by an explosion with an explosive force of over 50000 kg of TNT, while the building on the opposite side of the street was completely destroyed by the detonation.
In the course of this, it was decided to equip the police station in the Bronx in New York with components made of DUCON concrete, a construction project that is certainly not commonplace, as this concrete is equipped with a special micro-reinforcement, which even consists of high-quality stainless steel in the outer layer, in order to be able to withstand corrosion over the planned service life of a building with these slim geometries without significant concrete cover with a slab thickness of only 5 cm.
To date, such slim, load-bearing components have been implemented on a case-by-case basis as part of an approval. In future, this will be done on the basis of general building authority approval.
At scholz, we are all the more pleased that in the last joint project with DUCON, in which a staircase was to be dyed deep black, despite a fairly spontaneous request and delivery, our liquid paint was produced without any problems.
The result is impressive. We are already pleased to be able to see the component when it is fully installed. We would like to take this opportunity to wish DUCON continued success.

By the way, our liquid black ISF-Z is Scholz's first product verified by independent third parties Environmental product declaration in accordance with DIN EN 15804 for the Dutch market. This enables our customers, who are convinced of our liquid black ISF-Z, to create their own life cycle analysis and EPDs.
